In the tumultuous period marked by the end of the First World War and the beginning of the Weimar Republic, Carl Schmitt published his now classic work Political Theology. To introduce this special issue of Philosophy Today, we seek to revisit the old question of political theology, exactly one hundred years after Schmitt’s seminal text, in what is selfevidently a new time of political crisis.
