*is paper deals with the evolution of the main forms of writing that developed in the Aegean Sea in the 2nd millennium BC: Archanes Script, Cretan Hieroglyphic, Linear A, Phaestos Disc and Linear B. Particular attention is devoted to the topic of the origins of the Minoan scripts, their evolution and special links. *e +nal part is dedicated to the ‘case’ Linear B, the graphic system of the Mycenaean polities between the 15th and the end of the 13th century, which during more than 250 years does not show any signi+cant variations in terms of graphics, orthography, dialect and lexicon
