The broad 183 square meters pictorial area, detached during the 1979 restoration, is nowadays in a precarious state of conservation. During the 1979 intervention, the paintings were located onto new polyurethane supports, surrounded by two fiberglass panels and an additional polyurethane panel, attached to the back of the wall paintings. The multidisciplinary study has demonstrated that in a semi-confined environment the multilayer panel and the panel support system, analyzed with a videoendoscopic investigation, are not suitable. Nowadays the supports are deformed and significantly contribute to the degradation of the wall paintings.
