El movimiento ritual y la construcción del paisaje sagrado de Roma_algunos estudios de caso

The article aims first at providing a methodological survey on ritual performance by defining what is a rite, thus ritual movement. Attention will be given also to the spatial dimension of human experience, especially in the field of religion, to delve into the cultural transformation of “space” into a “place”. This will allow us to delve into some interesting case studies of ritual movement in Roman religion: Salian rites, the transvectio equitum and the Lupercalia. Such rites could transform ‘space’ into a (religious) ‘place’; they shaped (and were shaped by) emotions, identity, and memory, by finally becoming embedded in Rome’s sacred landscape.
