Mattatoio Roma and Matadero Madrid are two former slaughterhouses and parallel cases of industrial spaces reused for cultural purposes. Both have led to a similar result through a certain idea of “decorum”, due to a debate on their assignment of uses. In each of these projects, the preservation of the architecture and the urban implantation stand out. However, they show differences in the architectural interventions, which highlight the cultural specificities of restoration between the two states.
