This essay aims to investigate, in a historical context characterized by profound changes, the role of the European Economic and Social Committee within the European public space as an institution useful for promoting grassroots participation of civil society bodies. In particular, it will investigate how the EESC can represent a forum for discussion that allows the various civil society organizations to express the interests of social categories.
