Management and control of high-rise buildings and guidance of urban form—Take Vancouver for example

The guidance of urban form is one of the hot spots in the current domestic urban development research. High-rise buildings have become the focus of urban design research and urban three-dimensional order control because of their tremendous impact on the overall urban spatial form. This paper reviews the development process of Vancouver's high-rise building management and control policy, introduces its control content in detail from the aspects of landscape protection guide, high-rise building general policy, historical area height review, and expounds on the positive role of Vancouver's high-rise building management and control system and mechanism in guiding urban morphology from the macro, meso and micro levels. Finally, it summarizes the enlightenment for the guidance of urban form in China: at the macro level, we should clear the long-term development bottom line of urban form through large-scale landscape corridor design; at the high-density urban center, we should control by district and level, and closely combine landmark buildings with the identifiability of urban public space; to ensure the legitimacy of the urban form control, we should build a more open city And professional expert management platform.
