The purpose of the present study is the exposition of the results come out of a first limited detailed inquiry, based on modem textual criticism, on the text of the Ethiopic Senodos. The first phase of the research has consisted in the recensio, that is the quest of all the existing manuscripts of the work, and the determination of a criterion of selection of the manuscripts, so as to render their use and their examination possible; the second step has been the choice of one or more sections of the text, suitable enough to get out some preliminary general and methodological results. The fmal goal is the discovery of the method proper to the particularities of the textual tradition of the Ethiopic Senodos.
