The visibility of transgender and gender diverse (TGD) identities in sports environments has grown in recent decades. This book offers a valuable read for understanding the controversies around gender minority people in sports-related contexts, covering a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary perspectives on inclusivity, social justice, human rights, and elite, university, and school sports. Notably, the themes in this book draw on TGD people’s lived experiences in sports, including how gendered sports clothing can make gender-diverse people feel excluded. Chapters are framed by an intersectional approach to examining the climate for gender diversity in sports and the experiences and narratives within these environments. Witcomb and Peel have identified challenges and barriers facing TGD individuals in sports and point to strategies for inclusion to implement policies and practices focused on gender identity issues in sports-related contexts. They highlighted the impact of various axes of oppression, discrimination, and exclusion within sports and how these factors can devastate individuals’ health, including avoiding sports and physical activity.

Abstract
They highlighted the impact of various axes of oppression, discrimination, and exclusion within sports and how these factors can devastate individuals’ health, including avoiding sports and physical activity.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
