Una dedica ai Lari (?) e due procuratores summarum dalla Pieve di San Marcellino in Chianti (CIL XI 7082-7083)

In the spring of 1900, during the demolition of an old wall annexed to the rectory of the Parish Church of San Marcellino (Siena), an altar and a cylindrical statue base were found, both inscribed (CIL XI 7082-7083) and still preserved inside the church. The autopsy of the two finds, the typological analysis of the supports and the revision of the texts led to a re-examination of the archaeological context of discovery in the ager Saenensis as well as new hypotheses on the commissioners and the purpose of the two inscriptions.
