Nuovi spazi, nuove armi, vecchi nemici. Carl Schmitt e la critica filosofica del potere aereo

In this paper, my aim is to analyze the ethical and political consequences of airpower. The cornerstone of the essay is Carl Schmitt’s political philosophy, especially the issue of the verticalization of the conflict. I argue that the new war paradigm, so called drone warfare, undermines the juridical and political schemes of modernity. In this perspective, I try to develop Schmitt’s philosophy in order to provide the basic principles of a political philosophy of aerial warfare.
