This article includes the first publication of a group of eighteenth-century drawings preserved at the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Uffizi, Florence. The drawings are either partial or complete surveys of well known buildings within the Florentine area, including some of the most famous Medici villas. The drawings show the buildings as depicted around the first half of the eighteenth century, before subsequent transformations. The aim of this study is to assess the historical context in which these drawings were made. This allows a discussion of both date and attribution, contextualised within the activity carried out by the body of the architects of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, in particular Giuseppe Ruggieri.
