The contribution intends to propose a reasoned analysis of the development of the road network intercepted on several occasions within the vast coastal territory of the Mignone River Valley, on the basis of a comparison between recent archaeological discoveries and data from historical cartography, exploiting the methods of investigation peculiar to Landscape Archaeology. The analysis, which is not intended to be an overall reconstruction of the individual road layouts of the region, focuses on specific routes that are part of the larger road network in which the valley is still partly articulated. These axes, albeit with some minor variations, seem to have maintained a certain continuity of use from the Roman age to the medieval age, playing a nodal role in the settlement dynamics of the territory until the modern age.

Abstract
The contribution intends to propose a reasoned analysis of the development of the road network intercepted on several occasions within the vast coastal territory of the Mignone River Valley, on the basis of a comparison between recent archaeological discoveries and data from historical cartography, exploiting the methods of investigation peculiar to Landscape Archaeology. The analysis, which is not intended to be an overall reconstruction of the individual road layouts of the region, focuses on specific routes that are part of the larger road network in which the valley is still partly articulated. These axes, albeit with some minor variations, seem to have maintained a certain continuity of use from the Roman age to the medieval age, playing a nodal role in the settlement dynamics of the territory until the modern age.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
