Abstract

This article makes a historical review of the evolution of work starting from the English laws of enclosures, passing through the transformations resulting from the Industrial Revolution to the present day. The traditional concept of work is analyzed, in which there are reciprocal rights and obligations between employee and employer, highlighting the principle of good faith and the sustainable development agenda proposed by the United Nations 2030 Agenda. The changes in the way work is currently going are addressed, notably due to the advancement of technology impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing the increase of remote work. The main milestones of Brazilian legislation on telework were listed, including those that allowed flexibility of ordinary protective rules to the detriment of workers with a view to increasing business results. In the end, an approach was proposed on the remote worker's right to disconnect.
