Recenser les baraques et leurs habitants à Rome, de la fin du xixe siècle aux années 1960

The study of the censuses of the shacks lends itself particularly to a multiplicity of analytical orientations. In this case, we tried to use this type of source in order to deepen the point of view of the political and administrative institutions dealing with the increasing presence of the shacks in the city of Rome. The decision to carry out a specifical investigations requires a different perception of the phenomenon, as well as eloquent the basic objectives of the censuses appear. Above all it is necessary to establish the object of investigation or vice versa the lack of a clear definition of the recognition criteria to tell us a lot about the problems imputed each time to this particular social reality and to the changes in the consciousness of the speeches of it about the city.

Lo studio dei censimenti delle baracche si presta ad una molteplicità di orientamenti analitici. In questo caso, si è cercato di utilizzare tale tipo di fonte per approfondire il punto di vista delle istituzioni politiche e amministrative di fronte all’infittirsi della presenza delle baracche nella città di Roma. La sola decisione di svolgere indagini ad hoc presuppone una diversa percezione del fenomeno, come pure eloquenti appaiono gli obiettivi di fondo dei censimenti. Ma è soprattutto la necessità di stabilire l’oggetto d’indagine o viceversa la mancanza di una chiara definizione dei criteri di rilevazione a dirci molto sui problemi imputati di volta in volta a questa particolare realtà sociale e sui cambiamenti della coscienza di essa nei discorsi sulla città
