This study focused on a numerical comparison of the electromagnetic exposure to plane waves in two different female breast models, for dosimetry purposes. As a first step, the paper presented an improvement to the modelling of the female breast of a well assessed virtual female phantom. Then, the original and the modified models were compared when undergoing a plane wave exposure at 2.45GHz, impinging on the models. Three different wave polarizations were considered. The results highlighted the importance of using anatomically realistic breast models to achieve more accurate dosimetric results.

Abstract
This study focused on a numerical comparison of the electromagnetic exposure to plane waves in two different female breast models, for dosimetry purposes. As a first step, the paper presented an improvement to the modelling of the female breast of a well assessed virtual female phantom. Then, the original and the modified models were compared when undergoing a plane wave exposure at 2.45GHz, impinging on the models. Three different wave polarizations were considered. The results highlighted the importance of using anatomically realistic breast models to achieve more accurate dosimetric results.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
