Critical edition of the Hebrew text (accompanied by an English translation and commentary) of a series of notes, composed by a late 15th-century Jewish scholar, who was active in the culturally thriving centers of early Renaissance Italy. Grounding his assumptions in earlier texts, as well as in conversations with contemporary figures, Yohanan Alemanno (1435 ca.-1506 ca.) aims to highlight the significant role played by Portuguese geographical discoveries in Ethiopia and India, not only for opening new trade routes but mainly for contributing to shed new light on the fate of the ten "lost tribes", allegedly disappeared in the aftermath of the fall of the ancient Kingdom of Israel and associated by both Jews and Christians with the advent (or the second coming) of the Messiah.
