Dealing with data loss. New heritage data management strategies through the case studies of Torre Castelluccia and Porto Perone-Satyrion (TA)

The research project sets out to define new protocols or guidelines for the analysis of past excavations, covering all stages from recovery to dissemination. It is hoped that its outcome will help scholars and researchers who approach the review of heritage contexts by providing them with prompts and directions on the best recovery practices and specific examples of their application. The novelty and significance of this study lie in the fact that it goes beyond simple digitization and rescue of historical data; it also seeks to reflect upon when and where information loss happened and to quantify to what extent the lack impacts our possibility to formulate interpretative hypotheses.
