The aim of the paper is to analyze the characterization of male characters in Il fossile by Bianca Garufi, novel that the author wrote after the publication of the four-handed novel written with Cesare Pavese Fuoco grande, in 1959. Il fossile concludes the story narrated in the previous novel, 147 bringing the same characters back onto the scene and proposing the same alternation between the voice of the female protagonist, Silvia, and the male protagonist, Giovanni. However, the characters – and especially the male characters – are no longer the same, rewritten by the pen of Bianca Garufi. Giovanni, the stepfather Dino and Salvatore are in fact clearly weakened compared to Silvia, who assumes a new centrality in what is now in effect her story.

Abstract
The aim of the paper is to analyze the characterization of male characters in Il fossile by Bianca Garufi, novel that the author wrote after the publication of the four-handed novel written with Cesare Pavese Fuoco grande, in 1959. Il fossile concludes the story narrated in the previous novel, 147 bringing the same characters back onto the scene and proposing the same alternation between the voice of the female protagonist, Silvia, and the male protagonist, Giovanni. However, the characters – and especially the male characters – are no longer the same, rewritten by the pen of Bianca Garufi. Giovanni, the stepfather Dino and Salvatore are in fact clearly weakened compared to Silvia, who assumes a new centrality in what is now in effect her story.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
