The paper presents a historical evolution of the design of the LARM hand finger in terms of aesthetics and protective cover using shape design considerations and procedures. The development of the mechanical design of the fingers is outlined up to reaching a specific attention to the design of the envelope of artificial fingers with aesthetic and functional requirements, leading to an investigated and proposed solution also in the form of a shape patent. The historical development of this approach is based on a multidisciplinary collaboration integrating the design of the mechanisms and functionality of the grasp mechanics with aspects of shape design and graphics design to reach an anthropological aesthetic solution that has elaborated with a gradual development.

Abstract
The paper presents a historical evolution of the design of the LARM hand finger in terms of aesthetics and protective cover using shape design considerations and procedures. The development of the mechanical design of the fingers is outlined up to reaching a specific attention to the design of the envelope of artificial fingers with aesthetic and functional requirements, leading to an investigated and proposed solution also in the form of a shape patent. The historical development of this approach is based on a multidisciplinary collaboration integrating the design of the mechanisms and functionality of the grasp mechanics with aspects of shape design and graphics design to reach an anthropological aesthetic solution that has elaborated with a gradual development.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
