The present essay is conceived as a comprehensive catalogue of the Φ and Δ interpolated manuscripts of the "Institutiones humanarum litterarum". It is designed as a complementary tool to the new critical edition and commentary of Cassiodorus’ work, recently published by Brepols Publishers in the series Corpus Christianorum Series Latina (CC SL 99A) and Instrumenta Patristica et Mediaevalia (IPM 88). Among complete and partial witnesses, the catalogue lists twelve Φ manuscripts and twenty-three Δ manuscripts, mostly copied in relevant scriptoria of the Carolingian Empire during the 9th and the 10th centuries. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the manuscripts’ content, in order to outline an exhaustive picture not only of the circulation of Cassiodorus’ Institutiones in their interpolated forms, but also of the cultural projects that involved them between the mid-8th century and the Renaissance.
