With sustainability emerging as a new dimension of competitiveness, this study focuses on the mutual benefits of responsible innovation between companies and suppliers. Including stakeholders in the innovation process is essential to developing sustainable practices. Positioned in the responsible research and innovation (RRI) framework, the study outlines a set of opportunities with which public utilities can increase their innovation levels in line with the global priorities and 17 goals of the United nations’ 2030Agenda for Sustainable Development.
