The early Christian mosaics of Athens were studied by Pangiota Asimakopoulou Atzaka in the 1987, and more recently in a monograph on Athens’ mosaics (from the 5th century. B.C. to the 6th century. A.D.), edited by Italian Archaeological School at Athens. Based on these studies, this contribution aims to illustrate the mosaics in the sacred proto-Byzantine / early Christian context.
