Germanico – Germanikeia – Germanicus. Elementi per la rilettura di una festa efebica ateniese

The Germanikeia was one of the most important Athenian ephebic festivals; however, the year of its foundation remains uncertain. Paul Graindor hypothesized that the Germanikeia was founded in 18 AD, in honour of Germanicus, and officiated for him until the mid-3rd century AD. This hypothesis, while universally accepted, is not based on clear evidence and must be re-evaluated. In order to assess Graindor’s hypothesis, this research considers the Germanikeia’s documentation, characteristics, and links with exponents of the Imperial family.

I Germanikeia sono tra le più importanti feste efebiche ateniesi; tuttavia, l’anno della loro fondazione rimane incerto. Paul Graindor ipotizzò che la festa fosse stata istituita nel 18 d.C., in onore di Germanico, e officiata per lui fino alla metà del III secolo d.C. Questa ipotesi, sebbene universalmente accettata, non è basata su elementi probanti e deve essere pertanto rivalutata.
