Towards the Images: Translation of Polish children’s books in Italy 2000­2020 Polish children’s literature has never enjoyed much interest in Italy, the translations of Polish authors being few, somewhat random and above all generally of low quality. The situation has changed, in part, in recent decades, thanks to the international success of a new generation of Polish picture books, which began to attract attention also on the Italian book market for children. In my essay, I explore the reasons for this new interest in Polish authors, taking into consideration extra­textual factors, such as editorial contact channels, promotional policies, the importance of literary and graphic awards on the one hand and intrinsic values (aesthetic, pedagogical and literary) of translated books on the other
