The music industry in the last years has suffered numerous changes due to the role that technology has in structuring the music ecosystem, these new technologies so as different spaces and opportunities for consumption increase the challenges that organizations have in protecting intellectual property - IP. The study adopting the case study method aims to discover the concrete impact that digital ledger technologies such as blockchain, NFT, and new space as Metaverse(s) could have in defence of IP and on Collective Management Organizations - CMO. The study evidence as the new technologies offers new weapons to CMO but lead reflections on the sustainability of their business model and their skills in knowledge management and innovation.

Abstract

The music industry in the last years has suffered numerous changes due to the role that technology has in structuring the music ecosystem, these new technologies so as different spaces and opportunities for consumption increase the challenges that organizations have in protecting intellectual property - IP.
