Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) are pathological dilatations of the abdominal aorta to larger than 30 mm in diameter. Left untreated, it eventually results in AAA rupture and high mortality. Once diagnosed, patients with AAAs are monitored by regular scans until it reaches the size threshold (55 mm in diameter) deemed necessary for elective repair.
