This paper presents an experimental study of the vibration and the acoustic noise emitted by inverter-fed induction machines (IMs). The IM fits many applications, due to its cost efficiency and simple construction. Moreover, IMs are characterized by low maintenance, high efficiency, long life, low weight and compactness. However, many applications are also acoustic noise and vibration sensitive. Hence, research is today focusing on the acoustic and vibration performances of induction machines. In the automotive sector, limiting noise and vibration is one of the major factors to improve the driving comfort. In this work, a SVPWM based control techniques has been used to control the phase voltages of one three-phase induction motor, in order to perform vibration and acoustic noise experimental analysis. Experimental results, obtained by performing laboratory tests, have been performed and are discussed.
