Abstract
The first attestation of the term democracy is in Greece, in the archaic era. It was synonym for unanimity, as the full consent of the people. However, in the classical age the democratic idea was strengthened and its action grew in the Athenian community. The sources have transmitted us the ideas, the life paths of the protagonists, the strategic choices of the political actors of that experience, but the debate on the confrontation between ancient and modern democracy is still not resolved. The similarities and differences of the democratic theory add up in the public, private relationship, in the bureaucratic choice, in popular participation, and divide democratic theory from practice rather than the ages themselves.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
