Il censimento delle edizioni italiane a stampa contenenti illustrazioni (1501-1830)

The article presents the objectives of the research project funded by Sapienza University, dedicated to the census of Italian editions between 1501 and 1830, which present illustrations, tables, pictures, maps, portraits, infratextual illustrations of various gender, and engraved frontispieces. We intend to create a bibliographic resource as complete as possible, which provides evidence of the illustrations, woodcut and chalcographic, contained in the Italian books printed in the centuries cited and enables us to describe and link the illustrations to the printed editions that contain them. The aim of the project is, further, the creation of a public consultation Web portal, which allows finding all the registered editions that contain a specific type of illustration or, for example, have been printed by a particular printer or contain illustrations by a specific engraver or designer
