Digitalization represents a new organizational challenge being considered at the same time a cause of vulnerability and a driving force for the company development. The aim of this paper is to understand how organizations can be resilient in the digital era. To this extent, the study proposes a framework based on literature that recognizes resilience in the digital era; it includes seven key-characteristics, divided in pre-event and post-event ones. The framework was used to conduct an exploratory case study in which evidence was provided of how a multinational company operating in the energy sector, which in the last years has shown a considerable effort of digital transformation, has maintained and consolidated these characteristics. The study gives a theoretical and practical contribution, guiding scholars and companies in the exploitation of digital transformation, while enduring resilience key characteristics.
