Villa Medici, lo scavo degli interi dietro l’ex falegnameria. Il contesto dei materiali

The preliminary analysis of the artifacts uncovered behind the ex-Carpenter’s Shop in Villa Medici (Rome) provided interesting results. Data related to instrumentum domesticum, personal objects and decorative elements revealed the high economic power of the landowners who lived in this particular area of the city. Moreover, they allowed framing the archaeological context to the mid-1st century AD. This paper is a close examination of the findings analyzed so far. Divided in different typological classes, they have been studied through their qualitative and quantitative features, which have been used as the most significant markers of wider phenomena, such as decorative taste, circulation, and use of both humble and luxurious goods in this particular area of Pincio hill.
