This paper offers a brief overview of the manuscript tradition of the series of eight canons dedicated to the Holy Apostles, which was composed and included by Joseph the Hymnographer (9th c.) in his hymnographic and liturgical collection known as "New Oktoechos". In particular, some remarks are made on the time and possible reasons why this series of canons fell into disuse and gradually disappeared in the later manuscripts of the Parakletike.
