Inevitabilità e ricerca della “giusta misura” del turismo. Impatti e criticità nella campagna romana, dal mare al paesaggio interno

Tourism is starting, at an international and national level, to resume the growth trend prior to the covid-19 pandemic. However, there remain strong doubts about its sustainability as regards the prevailing forms that have characterized it so far. The case study presented concerns a coastal area, in the municipality of Rome, partly urbanized and partly agricultural, with a strong presence of seaside tourism and significant forms of degradation of the historical and natural landscape and of the habitat as a whole. The hypothesis of the research discussed here is that in order to limit tourism impacts and improve urban environmental quality, it is first of all necessary to remove the political-cultural obstacles that have so far made territorial government problematic and unsatisfactory. Wide-area policies and local planning interventions are certainly necessary, aimed at deconcentrating flows and activities in the most critical areas and periods.
