Leone verde. Etimologia di un'associazione culturale

The «Italian Association of Historical-Anthropological Studies», named “Green Lion”, founded among others by Luciano Dondoli (1928-2006), pursues aims of social solidarity in the field of the development of culture and art, as well as scientific research in ispecial historical and anthropological-cultural interest. What might have been the reasons that moved the founders to give the Association the name “Green Lion” and the related symbol, consisting of a rampant, langued green-colored lion looking to the left, inserted in an oval, to the right of which is the image of eight primitive men armed with sticks (or spears) proceeding in a line, one behind the other, toward the unknown? Attempting to solve this arcane, providing an interpretation of symbolic and cultural matrix, shedding light on the intentions of those who wanted to create such a cultural vessel, is the goal of the present article.
