Teaching yards in Piedmont. The transmission and learning of traditional buildings knowledge through the recovery of the rural stone heritage of the cultural landscapes of the Langhe

The recovery of the ciabòt Lumassìn results from work carried out in 2018 within the Banca del Fare project. The ciabòt is a rural piedmontese building built without workers and stems from farmers' need to be supported while working in the fields. It is a material heritage that manifests the close relationship with the intangible component: the oral transmission of the building culture of the Langhe territory and its traditional svoir faire. The buildings was recovered through didactic workshops with the help of local craftsmen and the buildings testimonies were transcribed in order to hand them down to future generations. The project's final objective is to reintroduce the ciabòt within a broader project: "i ciabòt d’Alta Langa, il primo albergo del cammino".

Abstract: Il recupero del ciabòt Lumassìn è l’esito di un lavoro svolto nel 2018 all’interno della Banca del fare, in collaborazione con lo Studio Ellisse di Torino, l’arch. Redina Mazelli, il prof. Andrea Bocco e l’associazione Parco Culturale Alta Langa. Il ciabòt è un edificio rurale piemontese costruito senza maestranze e derivante dalla necessità del contadino di essere supportato durante il lavoro nei campi. Si tratta di un patrimonio materiale che manifesta lo stretto binomio con la componente immateriale: la trasmissione orale della cultura costruttiva propria del territorio delle Langhe e del suo savoir faire tradizionale. L’edificio è stato recuperato attraverso dei cantieri didattici con l’ausilio di artigiani locali e le testimonianze costruttive sono state trascritte al fine di tramandarle alle future generazioni. Obiettivo finale dell’intervento prevede il reinserimento del ciabòt all’interno di un più ampio progetto: i ciabòt d’Alta Langa, il primo albergo del cammino.
