The subject of Italy in Elena Shvarts’s work had gone through a complex evolution. While in her earlier poems it was an imaginary Italy, 2000s’ poetry is based on real impressions from encounters with Rome, Venice, Florence, Bologna. This work is dedicated to the analysis of several poems from the “Roman notebook” (2002), closely connected with the city space.
