The contribution investigates the role that fear plays in the Italian press with regard to the representation of the terroristic attacks in Paris, particularly in Bataclan, the 13th of November 2015. The hypothesis of the work is that in the representation of events there is a transition from fear as an interpretative frame to a narrative plot, up to outlining a storytelling of fear used for representing contemporary social problems. This narrative choice is not only aimed at legitimizing repressive and security policies, but it is also addressed to maintain a high level of tension among the audiences in order to increase their emotional involvement and engagement. The broader use of this narrative strategy allows to outline a new sub-genre of information.
