The essay aims to organically analyze the directive for current affairs in the Italian system of legal sources. An instrument of difficult normative categorization, the directive on current affairs provides important evidence of the multiple transformations happening nowadays between Parliament and Government. The following pages aim precisely at the analysis of an instrument designed to guarantee the principle of institutional continuity and which, in the Italian legal system, has in recent decades come to be consolidated and expanded also and above all due to political factors.
