Ad usum publicum. Opere pubbliche nella Pesaro del primo Ottocento

Pesaro was a strategic city both for trading and for Adriatic communications. For this reason, in the aftermath of the Napoleonic wars, the city hall invested in the relaunch of its role within the reconstituted Papal States. Particularly, the adjustment of the roads and the requalification of the «Porconotrofio» building were the most discussed works ad usum publicum that were undertaken in those years. This was attested by the extensive documentation deposited at the Rome state archive among the records of the Congregation of Good Government: a set of unpublished reports signed by Pietro Bracci iuniore (1779-1839), who was the trusted architect of the dicastery.

Città strategica tanto per i commerci quanto – soprattutto – per le comunicazioni della zona alto-marchigiana, Pesaro investì molto all’indomani delle guerre napoleoniche per rilanciare il proprio ruolo all’interno del ricostituito Stato Pontificio. E tra i lavori ad usum publicum che si intrapresero in quegli anni l’ottimizzazione delle strade e la sistemazione dell’edificio del «Porconotrofio» furono sicuramente tra le più discusse. Lo testimonia l’ampia documentazione conservata presso l’archivio di stato Roma fra le carte della Congregazione del Buon Governo: un insieme di relazioni inedite riportanti tutte quante la firma dell’architetto di fiducia del dicastero Pietro Bracci (1779-1839).
