Mobility is an integral part of everyday life and affects the well-being of European citizens. At the same time, the negative consequences of transport use - traffic accidents, noise and deteriorating air quality – can be observed in almost all cities. Mobility has a significant environmental impact, being responsible for over 27% of all greenhouse gas emissions. One of the goals of The Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, which is part of the European Green Deal package, is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector. The Strategy contains 82 initiatives that should transform the countries transport system into a smart, competitive, safe, inclusive and affordable one. This European Union policy document is transforming the European transport system so that transport emissions are reduced by 90% by 2050 and cities become more resilient to future crises. The purpose of this article is to analyze the implementation and realization of the Strategy in the countries of Italy, Germany, Poland and Ukraine.
