The Chinese worship of birds could be date back to prehistoric times, the only way to explore the origins of this belief is through archaeological excavations in this no recording stage. From the excavations so far, bird-shape jades have been found in the Hongshan Culture, Liangzhu Culture, as well as in the Longshan Culture. This paper attempts to explore the origin of the bird cult from the bird-shaped jade artefacts found at these sites.
