The intent of this article is to describe China's recent regulatory inter- vention in the field of personal information protection. The analysis will provide a pretext to briefly reconstruct the cultural genesis of the phe- nomenon, its eveolution and its and the different patterns of protection provided the legislator. It will proceed by sifting the various regulatory interventions over the years up to the Personal Information Protection Law of 2021. Lastly, it will conclude with some observations.
