The significant contribution of legal comparison to the dialogue among different legal systems can be well appreciated by taking uniform law as a standpoint. To corroborate that conclusion, the paper considers one of the most successful projects in the field of contract law, i.e., the UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts, focusing, in particular, on the aspect in which the reciprocal interplay between the Principles and national laws is more evident, that is, their increasing role as an aid to interpreting and supplementing state law in proceedings before domestic courts.
