Post 1940 the architect Vincenzo Fasolo found himself drawing up plans for a “Museum for ancient artefacts” within Villa Torlonia in Roma. The idea was to transfer the Torlonia Collection from the rooms it was housed in in Via della Lungara. The blueprints for his work are in the Fasolo Archives kept in the Archivio Storico Capitolino. Fasolo had two differing architectural approaches to the job. They illustrate the stylistic and museographic changes going on in said debate during the years after the Second World War. Neither of the two proposals ever saw the light of day. Abstract

However, the planned project goes to show that Fasolo’s professional relationship with the Torlonia family didn’t come to an end with the Casina delle Civette in 1917, or the project for the Palazzo già Giraud in Via della Conciliazione, but instead carried on after the war
