Abstract
The phenomenon of populism, throughout the years, suffered several defining attempts. The attention to this object of study has generally been stronger from scholars who consider it a problem or the result of the democratic system crisis. For the minority of defenders, instead, it values the “directness” of politics, its sincerity and transparency, required by ordinary citizens against the opaque attitude of representative institutions and parties. It is seen as a threat but also as a possible corrective action for a policy that has somehow moved too far away from the people. A renewed interest for populism burst in 2018 among scholars with certain chracteristics, and this work wants to investigate how “populism” is conveyed by its counterspart, the public debate, through a statystical analysis of populist themed articles from some of the best-selling newspapers. What emerged was a relationship between academic production and information field.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
