The infrastructural, industrial and mercantile divestment has led to problematic gaps in urban areas that have become central in conurbations. Spaces and residual axes of an industrial age are opportunities for regeneration in saturated urban centers, with renovation strategies that often take longer than other industrial sectors. Emblematic cases concern the areas of Paris, Berlin, Milan. The Vallino railroad yard of Turin is a significant case, both for its historical settlement and typological characteristics, and for the processes. The action of the Superintendence has allowed the conservation of the 1880s historic railway factory, and the almost total demolition of the buildings of the yards. The interventions - in progress and pending - open up a new urban role, of centrality as well as reconnection with the neighborhood. The project visions developed in didactic terms and the comparison with the stakeholders allowed to outline criticalities and potentials.
