The paper retraces some stages of the artistic apprenticeship of Luigi Pirandello, documented by the exchange of letters that the young writer, then still a student, holds with his friend Giuseppe Schirò between 1886 and 1887. United by their passion for art. They discuss aesthetic issues and send each other verses, proses and theatrical scenes. These texts, never commented, help to enlighten the author’s formation, offering information about his readings and relations.
