Abstract
Conducted at Sapienza (supervisor Anna Maria Belardinelli), with a second supervisor from the University of Saint Andrews (Stephen Haliwell), my doctoral dissertation consists in the first critical edition and commentary to include all surviving fragments from 5th-century BC tragedies on the myth of Thyestes. Three authors are known to have composed plays about the many episodes of this complex character’s mythical saga: Sophocles, Euripides and Agathon. Of their work, we currently possess 58 fragments, all of them coming from indirect tradition.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
