The study of Corpus Iuris Civilis has been the subject of numerous investigations by historians who have analyzed and studied its individual components including the Codex Iustinianus, a collection of laws in twelve books, composed not only by the emperor but by other jurists of known fame and published in 529. The Codex Iustinianus, together with the Digest, the Institutions and the Novellas, would go on to compose the Corpus Iuris civilis, the first work in history aimed at collecting the fundamental texts of Roman law.
Lo studio del Corpus Iuris Civilis è stato oggetto di numerosi approfondimenti da parte degli storici i quali ne hanno analizzato e studiato i singoli componenti tra cui il Codex Iustinianus, una raccolta di leggi in dodici libri, composta oltre che dall’imperatore da altri giuristi di nota fama e pubblicata nel 529. Il Codex Iustinianus, insieme al Digesto, alle Istituzioni e alle Novelle, sarebbe andato a comporre il Corpus Iuris civilis, la prima opera della storia finalizzata a raccogliere i testi fondamentali del diritto romano.
